The coastal town of Wicklow lies approximately 50km south of Dublin and is easily accessible via the M11 motorway. The test venue is located at Wentworth Hall, which is in relative proximity to the town centre. Therefore, there are plenty of parking options on offer. We’ve highlighted two nearby car park facilities below.
Abbey Street Car Park
This site is open all day, every day, but only chargeable between 10.00 am and 5.30 pm, Monday through to Saturday. Therefore, no fee is applied to parking outside of these hours. This a maximum stay car park, which will restrict your parking allowance to three hours. However, this will be more than enough time to access the venue, complete your theory test, and return to your vehicle.
Parking is priced at €1.20 per hour and can be paid for either by cash or by using the Parking Tag service line. For the latter payment method, please call 01-244-9999 or text SMS 53311, in both instances quoting the location ID, WC.
Disabled spaces are available at this car park.
To reach the theory test centre from here, please head north, cutting across the Abbey Grounds and onto Wentworth Place. Turn right, and continue until you arrive at Wentworth Hall.
Church Street Car Park
This facility operates to exactly the same opening, chargeable, and maximum stay hours as Abbey Street Car Park. Parking is also charged at the same hourly rate and can be made via the same payment options. If using the Parking Tag service, please refer to the same contact numbers and location ID. This site accommodates disabled parking and electronic vehicle charging.
To head to the test venue, turn left onto Church Street, and progress northbound for around 100m. Please then turn left into Wentworth Place. Wentworth Hall will be around 20m up on the right-hand side.
For further local parking information, please visit the relevant Parkopedia page, located here.
Given Wicklow’s size and relative isolation, external services into the town are limited. There is one major transit line that heads into Wicklow town centre, which is the number 133 route.
The 133 heads north/south between Dublin and Wicklow, and stops at several locations close to Wentworth Hall. We would encourage you to exit the bus at the Grand Hotel on Marlton Road. The onwards journey to the test centre is just a short, one-minute walk from this bus stop. Please head north on Marlton Road, turning right onto Wentworth Place, and looping around the Abbey Grounds. Once beyond the Abbey, continue for around 50m until you see the venue on your left-hand side.
If able to access one of Wicklow’s local bus routes, please exit your service at either the aforementioned Grand Hotel, Tesco, or Wicklow Bus and Coach Station (which sits adjacently to Wicklow Train Station). Wentworth Hall is located roughly 650m from the Tesco Superstore, and the journey entails a five-minute southbound walk down the R750, before turning left onto Wentworth Place and converging with the route above. Instructions to reach the test centre from the train station (and therefore bus and coach station) are mentioned below.
Wicklow Train Station is located north of the town centre, and approximately 1km away from the theory test venue. The station welcomes services from Dublin and Rosslare. For information on departure and arrival times to and from these destinations, please check out the Irish Rail website.
There are unfortunately no suitable local bus routes between the station and Wentworth Place, so please your onwards journey will have to either conducted on foot or via taxi. We’ve listed the details of several local cab companies below:
- 66100 Cabs Wicklow Town: 58 Main Street, Wicklow, A67 R237 (Contact No. +353 404 66100)
- Wicklow Kabs: R750, Wicklow (Contact No. +353 404 66888)
- Wicklow Taxi: Mobile service around Wicklow (Contact No. +353 89 443 0321)
If comfortable walking, then please head southbound on Station Road, passing the council building and the Wicklow Town football ground. At your first junction, turn left onto Church Hill, and continue for 500m. Please then turn right at the Wentworth Place junction, and advance onto Wentworth Hall. This journey should take just short of fifteen minutes.
The centre takes test bookings between the following times:
- Monday-Friday: 9.00 am-5.00 pm
- Saturday: 9.00 am-2.00 pm
- It is closed on a Sunday.
