Waterford Theory Test Centre Address

The location of the test centre for driver theory test candidates is:

The Atrium,
Maritana Gate,
Canada Street,
X91 TH63

Directions

Car

The theory test centre is located in the heart of Waterford and is easily accessible by car. The main commuter routes towards the city are the N25 and the N29. There are a host of good parking facilities located close by, and we recommend the following:

City Square

Parking here is available every day of the week, but opening times do vary. Therefore, ensure you cross-reference your testing slot to the hours shown below:

  • Monday-Wednesday, and Saturdays: 7.30am-7.00pm
  • Thursday-Friday: 7.30am-9.00pm
  • Sunday- 12.00pm-6.00pm

Standard parking between these times is charged at a rate of €2 per hour, and the site has out-of-hours options available. If you require an overnight stay, tickets are priced at €7 and allows users to park between 5.30 pm and 10.00 am. An all-day, 24-hour parking ticket costs €12. This car park is underground, so vehicles will be sheltered from the elements.

Payment machines on-site will accept cash, card, and contactless payments. This facility also has disabled parking spaces.

The test centre is located around 750m away from this car park, and therefore onwards travel will take approximately ten minutes by foot.

Bolton Street

This car park is a short, four-minute walk from the test venue. The site is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, but only charges within a specific timeframe. Chargeable hours are between 8.30 am-6.30 pm, Monday-Saturday. Therefore, Sundays are free (as are Bank Holidays). However, please note that the testing centre is closed on a Sunday.

Parking is priced at €1 per hour. Although this is slightly cheaper than parking at City Square, please be aware that there is no vehicle shelter at the Bolton Street site.

Waterside

If you fancy a more picturesque onwards walk to the test centre, then we would recommend parking at Waterside Car Park. Located on the banks of John’s River, you’ll have a four-minute walk along the river side, passing the iconic Waterford Court House on the way.

This car park has exactly the same opening/chargeable hours as the Bolton Street site, and also charges €1 per hour. However, full day parking here is capped at €3.60. Therefore, if you’re planning to extend your stay in Waterford beyond your testing slot, Waterside is perhaps your best option. Weekly tickets are also available, priced at €18.

Again, electric vehicle parking is completely free, and charging facilities are available on site. Users have the option of paying by card, cash, or contactless payment. Disabled spaces are available.

For further parking availability within the local area, please visit the following page.

Train

The city’s Waterford Plunkett train station is around 2km from the theory test centre. If looking to take the most direct route by foot, you should expect around a 25-minute walk to the testing venue on Canada Street.

Alternatively, there are several bus services which will serve to reduce the duration of this journey.

One option is to catch the W1 bus heading to Ballinaneeshagh from the Clock Tower bus stop, which is around a ten-minute walk from the train station. Please be aware that there is a sizeable Clock Tower positioned next to the bus stop, so it should be relatively easy to locate! Exiting the bus at ‘The Mall’ (Waterford House of Crystal) will result in a short, onwards walk of around five minutes to the test centre.

Alternatively, there is also the W5 service to Ballinakill, which is accessible from Waterford Bus Station. The station itself is approximately a seven-minute walk from Waterford Plunkett. Again, if taking advantage of this route, please leave the bus at ‘The Mall’.

Station address:

Terminus Street,
Waterford,

Bus

The three main bus routes entering the city are the 355, 40, and Dublin Airport-Tramore service.

The 355 and 40 approach Waterford from the west. The 355 runs from Cahir to Waterford, and the 40 operates between Tralee and Rosslare. The Dublin-Airport service is available for those travelling in a south-ward direction.

As previously alluded to, within the city, Waterford has a number of local bus routes. If taking advantage of one of these services, you should aim to arrive at either The Mall or Lombard Street bus stops, which are both approximately a five-minute walk from the test centre.

Opening Hours

The test venue opening hours are as follows:

  • Monday-Friday: 9.00am-5.00pm
  • Saturday: 9.00am-2.00pm
  • Sunday: Closed
