There are limited local parking options that facilitate short onwards travel to the test centre, but you still should be able to find a space in relative proximity to the venue. Nevertheless, given the remoteness of the town, information on car park charges, opening hours, and possible payment methods is not readily advertised.

Unfortunately, there is no longer an operational train station located in Monaghan. There are a number of stations based within an hour’s drive of the town, but these distances clearly take more time to navigate when using public transport. Therefore, we would therefore advise against travelling by train.
However, if this is your only option, please head to Portadown Train Station. Connecting services from Newry, Dundalk, Poyntzpass, and Scarva will all take you on a more protracted route to Monaghan than the one offered by Portadown’s transport links.
Nevertheless, onwards journey times to differ dependent on the time of day you’re travelling. Therefore, please cross-reference your test slot against the schedule for the bus service outlined below. This is essential as travel times can be anything between one and two hours.
For onwards travel to the test centre, take the 271 Cavan route from Portadown Train Station bus stop. An hour’s journey will take you to Monaghan Bus Station. Please exit, and follow the guidance shown in the commentary for the number 182 service.
For Portadown’s departure and arrival time, please visit the Translink website.
