Directions

Car

The remote town of Killarney, located in the southwest of Ireland, is accessible via the N71 and N22. Its theory test site is located close to the town centre, with numerous parking options close by. We’ve highlighted two car parks below; one with, and one without, disabled parking spaces. There are multiple parking facilities throughout central Killarney. To review alternative sites, please visit the town’s Parkopedia page by clicking the following link.

Milk Market Car Park

This facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days per week. Parking is relatively inexpensive at €1.20 per hour. If you’re planning to extend your stay in Killarney beyond test day, then please be aware that 24-hour tickets can be purchased for €5, and full week coverage is available for €18. However, please note that this site only holds 40 vehicles at any given time.

Payment can be made in cash, or by using the APCOA Connect service line. For the latter option, please contact 0861801630, quoting the car park’s location ID (0693). Unfortunately, this site does not accommodate disabled parking.

To reach the test centre, please head southbound on High Street, turning right at the first junction onto New Street. The venue is located roughly 150m up on your right-hand side.

St. Anne’s Road Car Park

If you require disabled parking, or the Milk Market Car Park is full, please head to St. Annes Road. The car park here has 120 spaces and is also slightly cheaper than the Milk Market site.

This facility is accessible all day, every day, but only charges customers between the hours of 8.30 am-6.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Therefore, parking is free outside of these times. If using the site at some stage during the aforementioned timeframe, you’ll be charged at a rate of €1 per hour. This is a cash-only car park.

For onwards travel to the test venue, please follow the instructions below:

On leaving the car park, please head past the IRA Memorial, and cross over the N71. Follow High Street down to its first junction, and turn right onto Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty Road. Continue south-west bound, all the way down to the New Street junction. Turn right, and advance towards the test centre, which will be 50m up on your right-hand side.

Bus

Given Killarney’s relative isolation, there are no external transit lines that run through the town. However, there are a number of local bus services in operation. If using one of these, please head to either East Avenue Road bus stop or Killarney Bus Station.

East Avenue Road is approximately a nine-minute walk from the test venue. Head west on the N71, advancing straight on for around 200m before turning right onto Kenmore Place. Travel northbound on Kenmore Place, allowing it to merge with Main Street ahead. At the first opportunity, turn left, and emerge onto New Street. The theory test centre is around 150m along this road, positioned on the right-hand side.

Killarney Bus Station is just under a kilometre away from the venue, but there are unfortunately no connecting bus services that would help facilitate this journey. If you would prefer not to walk this considerable distance, then it may be worth hiring a local cab. We’ve listed some possible options below:

  • Flemings Taxi: 47 Pinewood Estate, Avenue, Killarney, Co. Kerry, V93 DC7K (Contact number: +353 87 238 3592)
  • Taxi Killarney: Plunkett Street, Killarney, Co. Kerry (Contact number: +353 87 191 1955)
  • Shane’s Taxi & Chauffeur Service: 14-15 College Street, Killarney, Co. Kerry, V93 DH21 (Contact number: +353 86 202 7212

If heading to the centre by foot, then please start your onwards travel by heading west on the R876, passing Killarney Shopping Centre on your left-hand side. Continue straight on at the roundabout, progress for a further 50m, before turning left onto College Street. Advance south-west down College Street, and then onto Plunkett Street. Follow this road to its end, and then head right onto Main Street. As this route now converges with the walk from East Avenue Road, please see the guidance above to navigate you to the test site from here.

Killarney Train Station sits on the Dublin to Tralee line, which facilitates services (amongst others) to Cork, Limerick, and Portlaoise. The station sits adjacent to Killarney Bus Station, so please refer back to the instructions above for your journey to the venue.
