Located in southwest Ireland, Charleville is a small town positioned roughly halfway between Limerick and Cork. The test venue is located in Charleville’s town centre, which can be accessed via the N20. However, given its modest size, parking options are extremely thin on the ground. There is roadside parking on Main Street, where the test centre is located, but, due to the busyness of this road, there is no guarantee you’ll secure a space here. The only other viable car park is located at Charleville Train Station, however, please note that this is situated over 2km away from the venue. Therefore, if possible, we would encourage you to use the number 51 bus route (information on this transit line mentioned below), which will drop you off in close proximity to the test site. Alternatively, you could take advantage of a local taxi service. Again, your options are unfortunately limited, but we’ve listed a couple of potentially usable cab companies below:
- Mullins Hackney Cabs: Services the Charleville area. (Contact number: +353 87 320 3206)
- Adare Taxi Service: Castleroberts, Adare Taxi Service, Adare, Co. Limerick. Contact number: +353 87 991 1675
Charleville Train Station Car Park
This facility is open all day, every day. The car park does not operate a pay by hour system, rather offering a 24-hour or weekly ticket. However, the full-day option would perhaps be a cost-effective solution, anyway as onward travel to the test centre (as previously mentioned) is extensive. Tickets for 24-hour parking are charged at €4.50, however, this is discounted by €1 if utilizing the APCOA Connect mobile payment line. If you’re planning to stay in Charleville beyond your test day, weekly tickets can be purchased for €11 (or €9 if paying via APCOA Connect).
To pay using the APCOA service, please call 0861801630, and quote Location ID, 0914. Please note that card payments at ticket kiosks are not accepted at this site.
This car park accommodates disabled parking and also has electronic car charging facilities available.
As mentioned, the onwards journey to the testing venue is substantial. If walking, please follow the instructions below:
Exit the station and head northwest bound on Railway Road. After approximately 1.4km, you’ll reach the road end. From here, turn right onto Sean Clarach MacDonnell’s Terrace, progressing onto Holly Cross Place, and then finally Main Street. Continue for 100m after merging onto Main Street; the test centre will be located on the right-hand side.
There is only one main external bus route that passes through Charleville. As noted earlier, this is the number 51. This service connects Galway to Limerick, heading in a north/south direction. If using this transit line, please exit on Main Street, outside Charleville Library. Turn 180°, and head southbound on Main Street for just shy of 100m. The test site will be located on your left-hand side.

Despite its relative remoteness, Charleville has a train station that facilitates direct travel to Dublin, Cork, Tralee, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Clonmel. Departure and arrival information can be found on the station’s Irish Rail webpage, available here.
Unfortunately, this venue does not publish its operating times. Therefore, please just ensure you arrive in plenty of time for your testing slot.
