Carlow Theory Test Centre

Carlow Theory Test Centre Address

The location of the test centre for driver theory test candidates is:

Unit 4 Centaur House,
St Johns Street,
R93 V5R3

Carlow can be accessed via the N80, which is linked to the M9 motorway. There are various parking facilities in relative proximity to the test centre. We’ve picked out a couple of potential options:

Carlow Train Station Car Park

The local train station is located around 1km from the testing venue. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. There is no hourly payment option at this site, and therefore you’ll only be able to purchase day, week or monthly tickets. However, prices for a 24-hour stay are reasonable at €4.50, and, if requiring parking beyond the day, a weekly ticket will only set you back €11.

Parking can be paid for by cash, or by using the APCOA Connect service. Simply contact APCOA’s parking line on 0861801630, and quote location ID 0900.

Disabled parking is available at this site. If you drive an electrical vehicle, please be aware that there are EV charging facilities at this site. The test centre is approximately a 12-minute walk from the car park in a south-westerly direction, passing St. Leo’s College and Carlow Courthouse on the way.

Greenbank Car Park

This car park is open all day, every day; however, charges are only applied at the following times:

Monday-Saturday 8.30am-5.30pm

Parking is cheap here, with hourly parking priced at €1, and total payment capped at €3. Therefore, whether you decide to stay for three hours or seven, you’ll be charged exactly the same amount. However, please note that this is a cash-only car park. Disabled spaces are available

The onwards journey to the venue is around seven minutes from here and converges with the route from the train station on Athy Road. To get to this point, please head westwards along Railway Road, turning left onto Dublin Road at the first junction. Athy Road is approximately a 300m walk from here.

For further parking options in the surrounding area, please visit the relevant Parkopedia, page, located here.

There are limited local bus services within Carlow itself, however, if you’re based outside of the town, you may be able to access Carlow via one of two main external bus routes.

The number 73 Athlone-Waterford service, heading towards Carlow in a south-easterly direction, can be taken to Carlow Coach Park. If heading to Carlow from the north, you can catch the Dublin Airport-Tramore service. If taking advantage of this route, please also exit at Carlow Coach Park.

The test centre is roughly a ten-minute walk from the coach park and can be accessed by heading up Kennedy Street in a north-westerly direction, before turning right up St. John Street. The venue is located around 100m up on your right-hand side.

If using a different bus service, we would encourage you to either aim for the coach park, or alternatively Carlow College bus stop. If arriving at the latter, please be advised that the test centre is approximately an eight-minute walk, heading due west along Brown Street and Centaur Street.

As previously referenced, Carlow train station is located around 1km northeast of the testing venue. Please be advised that travel between Dublin and Carlow takes around two hours. There are unfortunately no connecting bus services that run close to the test centre. However, the station is in close proximity to the town centre (around a five-minute walk), where a number of cab companies are located.
